DISCDEX — Disc Value Database

FAQ

Questions about DISCDEX

How much is my Blu-ray collection worth?

DISCDEX works it out disc by disc. Scan each barcode (or import a list) and every title is priced from what copies actually sold for on eBay recently, for the condition you own. Your collection total adds them up, and updates as you re-price.

Is there an app that scans a Blu-ray barcode and tells you what it's worth?

Yes. In the DISCDEX iPhone app, point the camera at the barcode on the back of the case. The disc is added, named, and priced from recent eBay sold listings in a few seconds. Scanning also works in Chrome on Android.

Where do DISCDEX prices come from?

From completed eBay sales — what discs actually sold for, not asking prices. eBay shows roughly the last 90 days of sales. DISCDEX keeps new and used prices separate, and saves a snapshot each time you price a disc so you can see values change over time.

Does it work for 4K UHD, DVD, steelbooks and boutique labels?

Yes. DISCDEX handles Blu-ray, 4K UHD, DVD and VHS. Steelbooks are priced as steelbooks and have their own filter. Boutique labels such as Criterion, Arrow, Vinegar Syndrome and Shout! Factory are recognized, and the label is filled in for you.

Can I import my collection from Blu-ray.com?

Yes. Export your collection from Blu-ray.com as a CSV and import it into DISCDEX as-is. Any CSV with a title column works, and you can export your DISCDEX collection to CSV at any time.

Is DISCDEX free?

Yes, to start. The free plan has unlimited titles and collections and 25 price lookups a month, and a disc someone else priced recently costs no lookup. DISCDEX Pro adds 1,000 lookups a month and one-tap Refresh All, for $19.99 a year or $49.99 once.

Is there an Android app?

Not a store app yet, but DISCDEX runs in the browser on Android, and barcode scanning works there in Chrome. It also runs in any desktop browser, where you can add discs by typing or importing.

Is my collection private?

Yes. Your collection, prices and notes are private to your account. DISCDEX has no ads and no tracking, and does not sell data. Only disc details such as title, label and cover art are shared, so that a disc scanned once is named for everyone.
